It would be lovely to see lots of member taking part in next year’s Club Championships. More and more of you are entering races and competing in the Championships makes for good camaraderie, supporting others and having an enjoyable day out, often with cake to finish the day/morning! You don’t have be fast, it’s the taking part, having fun and earning points with like-minded members. To cut down on costs car-sharing is a good idea too.

The Championship Calendar consists of races of pre-determined running events over the Racing Year, 1st December 2022 to 31st October 2023, inclusive. These races consist of a variety of distances and terrains.

The basics are that you must be a paid-up member (1st or 2nd claim) and you must wear your Yeovil vest (white/green/black, not the yellow or black ones).

The scoring

Scores for the pre-determined races are calculated based on the first Yeovil Town RRC Man and Yeovil Town RRC Lady past the post being awarded 50 points, the second Yeovil Town RRC Man and Yeovil Town RRC Lady being awarded 49 points, and so on until the 50th Yeovil Town RRC Man and Yeovil Town RRC Lady who are awarded 1 point.

Club Champion

The Male and Female Club Champion will be determined by taking their highest 10 scores and in the case of a tie the competitor who has taken part in the most races will be The Champion.

Points King and Points Queen

In addition to the Male and Female Champion there is also an award for Points Queen and Points King which is determined by totalling the scores from all the races over the racing year.  In the event of a tie, the competitors will share the trophy over the year. In the case of Points King/Queen being the same as the Club Champion, the trophy will be awarded to the competitor in 2nd place.

Slam Hats

The same rules apply as usual, except that the micro hat will be made slightly more challenging by having 2 x 5k races and 2 x 10k races and adding a 5 mile race.
