From Claire: Sunday social with the ladies…lovely morning to get out and Karen.
From graham: A few of us headed to Yeovilton for a social half marathon, perfect conditions today compared to last Sunday.
From Richard: Another good turnout for the Sunday marathon training group this morning. Well done all on quite a tough route with plenty of elevation. Lots of legs up on the sofa this afternoon I reckon.
Newquay 10k
From Kevin: Newquay 10k this morning. Undulating course with over 900 runners competing at this very popular cornish event. Happy with 1st 65 + old man home award.
Dark Valley
From Ann: Myself and Matthew Bambury traveled down to moors valley park to do the bigfeat dark valley event. You could do 10k,20k,30k . Matt managed to do 20k as he had a bad leg . I done the 30k it just over 3 hours so pleased with that. We seen Tristram Clark and Nat Robins there which was lovely they both done the 10k. The course was amazing and well signed posted it had amazing marshals and a great team running it with an amazing medal as always . The aid station was brill too. Dark Valley, Night Trails well done on another great event.
Park Runs
From Terry: Bagging a G 6 letters left.
From Katie: Seaton parkrun with club vest, pebbles and family.
From Margarita: Was a rebel today to celebrate my 25th parkrun the other weekend (as only just got my t-shirt) and did The Great Field parkrun. Lovely to see Kevin Doherty there and bump into Joanna Samuel, Tony Nesbitt, Alison Griffiths, Robert Adams and Louise Ward and have breakfast with them in The Dorset Kitchen in Weymouth.
PUB RUN – SHERBORNE – BRITANNIA INN – (30TH JANUARY 2025)
From Mark: There was just JC, Louise, and myself in the not so fast group tonight.
I led an anti-clockwise loop through the town which incorporated Hospital lane, Newland, Oborne road, Castle Town Way, Vernalls road, and Priestlands, taking us over to the steps.
The air was cool, and one of the planets was brightly visible above us. We continued up through Coombe road, and had a discussion on how to pronounce “coombe” as opposed to “combe”. Both are celtic for valley. We climbed the muddy path, and crossed over to Sheeplands, and continued down to the new Vets building. Crossing over the A30, we then ran along Bradford road, and down the paths to Westbridge Park. We ran via Hunts Mead to Lenthay road.
We slogged along Lenthay road, down Ottery lane, and back along Westbury to the pub.
After the run, we joined, Phil, Stephen, Guy, and Fez in the pub for the meal. The food was good and plentiful. Thanks Phil for organising.
