A Busy Weekend

A Busy Weekend

Released On 18th Jul 2024

Cider frolic

From Dom: 5 of us turned up to the last ever Keep Running Rural (aka K.R.R previously Whitestar) event. Eleanor Ellie Damon and John Curtis camping and Kirsty Norman , Michaela Hurd and myself turning up on the day. With the forecast kind on temperatures, and suitable for taking the shampoo on the course later in the day, we were all set for up to 12 hours of fun. The course was a standard K.R.R course with great hills, lovely views, the occasional appearance of the reaper, oh and hitting the lovestation every 3.5 miles with shots from 11am onwards. All 5 of us completed the ultramarathons (i dont care what you say Ellie!) J.C completed 49miles, even after his superman impression arriving on friday. But incredibly Michaela smashed the 50mile barrier, and ended up finishing 2nd woman even with the course turning into an ice rink with the heavy rain! Considering she had never even run a marathon until may, completed her first ultra 3 weeks ago (31miles) the 50mile achievement is pheonminal, even if she did quit with 90mins to go.

A great day was had by all at the last ever K.R.R event

Park Runs

From Jo: Fantastic morning celebrating Lesley Nesbitt 250th Parkrun at Exmouth this morning. We don’t let the horrible weather dampen our spirits but it did make us very wet!! Triss Samuel very sensibly supported from the car! Luckily Taryn Monks & Katie Stokes just made it on time to join us as we all started along the prom!! After a phew photos we headed over to Dart Farm foran amazing breakfast. The only place they could fit us all in was outside so we were thankful to see the biggest of all umbrellas sheltering the table. It was worth waiting for, although Triss didn’t & got in a sneaky mini pasty while waiting . After a few purchases form a very busy farm shop we all headed our separate ways. Some of us got a sneaky Ice cream in on the way home at the Otter Vallye Ice Cream & Field Shop. Well, we were going right past so it was rude not too!! . Wishing Lesley & Tony Nesbitt a great holiday & many congratulations Lesley on your 250th Parkrun.

PUB RUN – WEST CHINNOCK – (18TH JULY 2024)

From Mark:  On a warm sunny evening, there were three of us in the not so fast group tonight (JC, Lawrie, and myself). I made up a route which started with us running up past the church, and turning left into Snails Hill. Turning left again, we ran back down to the pub forming the first loop. We continued northwards, turned right, and then climbed Smoky Hole Lane. At the top we turned left, ran along Pease Hill, and continued down into Chiselborough. Turning left in the village we climbed Brypton Hill, but cut across a field where there were small cows. We descended Smoky Hole Lane, turned left, and ran into Middle Chinnock. With two right turns we were back to West Chinnock and the pub.

After the run we joined Phil, Guy, Ann, and Stephen for the pub meal. Thanks Phil for organising.

Pawlett Plod 10k 2024

From Margarita: So a few of us did the Pawlett Plod 10k 2024 last night. A lovely evening for a race albeit a bit warm. You ran down the road and onto the river path, it was lovely running past the river, flat but tricky underfoot on the grassy sections, then you turned off and went slightly uphill, then more uphill and along to the finish.
