A Week to Go
Released On 22nd Mar 2025
Reading Half
From Andy: Getting ready for the Reading half.
Exeter Trail Races
From Darran: Impromptu Half Marathon booked the night before. Asking a random to take a picture for the club blog no idea what the course entailed. Sneaking in on a Podium finish. Exeter Trail Half Marathon at Escot Estate, was fun but a tough two looped race with some sketchy elevation.
Event was well organised with plenty of snacks at the end. I thought it would be a good warm up for next weeks Yeovil Half. And even managed a podium finish in the end (3rd overall), which rarely happens - representing YTRRC.
Weekend Running
From Amanda: We are now all prepped for YHM next week, thanks for the company Mel Cox and thanks Helen Nesbitt for the restorative cake.
From Sharon: Another Saturday, another Cavity Trays run. This week took us out to Montacute and Odcombe because we all love hills don't we? A few doing extra miles before and after as part of the ongoing and what feels like never-ending marathon training. Warmer than expected. Awesome running from all.
From Ali: Sunday social 10K group this morning running the Yeovil 10K route ready for next Sunday. Followed by cake.
From Helen: Sunday Club Run 10.5 miler complete so nice to include some trails again along Riverside Walk. Well done all nice to have Charlie Spencer join us too. Of course we deserved some yummy cake after too.
Park Runs
From Steve: I don’t normally post my Parkruns but I did Bolberry Head (nr Salcombe) this morning and I highly recommend it. It’s a 3 lap course that follows the South West Coast Path and the views are stunning (might be my favourite Parkrun so far). The tail wind was very helpful on the out direction but tough on the way back and up the slight incline. Very happy to be 1st in age (I was 6th overall in 20:28 but results have me has 7th in 21:34- not sure what happened there ). The highland cow finished 1st Bovine back! A hike into Salcombe on the SWCP followed and currently enjoying an ice cream before the hike back and then a few days hiking.
From Helen: A big group of us at Frogmary Parkrun this morning! Lovely to see Katy after so long! Massive well done to Gav for completing his 100th parkrun. A few of us headed for brekki after.
From Lindsay: Greenslade farm shop park run for the G this morning. Lovely route around the farm, seeing the animals, although a slight hill to the finish lol. Great to see @kevin.doherty.7330 and enjoy coffee and breakfast with him after. We had a mooch around the farm shop after which is immense and then on to the @georgeatdonyatt for mothers Day lunch with 4 generations. Lovely day, lovely weather, lovely company and lighter evenings are coming yay xx
From Terry: Tourist streak # 16.
From Margareta: A nice sunny day for parkrun
From Claire: A new Parkrun for us today but running on old stomping ground. Ran these paths many, many years ago when I ran with Sole Sisters in Bristol! My fastest and most consistent 5K this year. Now off to the running shop for new trainers, the purpose of our trip!
The Admiral Hood Pub Run 20th March
From Ann: Tonight's pub run was at the admiral hood. My self bungy williams Matthew Bambury Steve Lye ran in the faster group, we done just over 4 and a half miles , Rachel Jones and Kate Gowers walked and so did phil on his own. In the slitley slower group Mark Larcombe and John Curtis . A lovely warm evening and great food after.
