Crewkerne 10km

From Mafalda:  So today I headed to Crewkerne for my June race (trying to get 1 a month). I was warned it was an hilly one, but I decided I would try. Of course I've been having issues with a foot, but still decided to go for it. By 5k really though about going back, but 5k back or front are still 5k. So I put my big girl pants on and went forward. Some moments were hard but quitting wasn't an option and ended up finishing with a really good time for the amount of walking I did. Chuffed with myself .

Amazing support of my club YTRRC, who was quite well represented, the marshals, some known faces and, of course, my other half Jeff Watson, who always believes I can achieve more.

Some photos from everyone on the little hill just before finish line, courtesy of Charlie Spencer .

From Margarita: A beautiful morning for the Crewkerne 10km. Lovely to see a great club turnout. I think I almost forgot how hilly this race was morning uphill than downhill, but enjoyed it none the less. And flying feet at the end. A nice engraved glass as a memento.

Communifit 5k

From Ann: What a beautiful morning for the Communifit 5 and 10 k run in sherborn to raise money for yeovil hospital today. Was lovely to see Claire Shucksmith Kirsty Norman and Steve Lye running it to. What lovely views along the way ,but the hills especially the last one on the home stretch was not for the faint hearted almost forgot first lady back yay go me.

From Claire:  Communifit 5k knee tester….

Steve Lye, Kirsty Norman and Ann Grace all taking part in the 10k. Lovely warm weather and still a nasty hill at the end.

Weekend Running

From Lesley: A small Sunday group this morning but a lovely day to be out running in sunny weather. Nice to see Donna en route, also Magdalena, Andy and Ashley. Amanda did her own jeffing run meeting us for coffee at the cafe afterwards. Thanks all for the company.

From Mags: Trail rolling, I mean running today with the incomplete gang (we missed you L & G). Bumped into Lesleys gang and somehow missed Robbie's group!

From Mark:  Saturday Run from Cavity Trays with Sharon and Tim. Chilthorne Domer, Tintinhull, Icicle Barn, and Balls Hill. Thanks Sharon for the route.

From Graham: A lovely coastal run this morning, preparing some of us for Ham to Lyme in a few weeks time.

*UPDATE* NEWTON ABBOTT LADIES 10K RACE Sunday 22nd September. As per my Facebook message on 19th May, I have now been given permission to put on a minibus paid for by the club (for those who would like to take up the offer). Please let me know by 30th June if you would like a seat on the minibus so I can get the correct size minibus booked. Please join us, whether you are speedy, slow or average, because "girls just wanna have fun!"

The race details are as follows (from previous post) -

Teignbridge Trotters are holding their annual Newton Abbott Ladies 10K. Entrants are £14 and free for any youngsters aged between 15 - 17. I did this a couple of years ago and it was great. This year it starts from Ipplepen Cricket Club, which has toilets and showers. Also refreshments. There is an unique memento for all finishers. There is also team prizes for the first 3 teams of 4 (from each club). I'm personally not bothered about the team prize, but would be great for all us YTRRC ladies of ALL abilities to take part. I/We have been given a free space if we get 14 ladies to sign up, but to be honest, it would only save us less than a £1 so I'm not going to chase for the discount! Limited to 300 applicants. Any questions please ask.

Park Runs

From Kev: The Great Field Poundbury for us today , Trevor Strelley Richard Dodge Steve Sparks and Amanda Travers ( apologies didn't see you to speak ) great morning.

From Jo:  Great turn out at Frogmary Green Farm parkrun from the green & whites today. Congratulations to Kay on her fantastic 150th milestone Parkrun this morning.

Pub Run from Tippling Philosopher

From Ali: Pub run from the Tippling Philosopher at Milborne Port. Started off as one group and split into two. We left the pub and ran across a few fields which crossed the gallops before heading up through the woods. Turning left at the top to run along the ridge where you can look down over Milborne Port. After the lane at the top we ran through another set of woods which was very over grown and Steve Lye took a tumble. Ending up in the small nature reserve we then came out onto the road and ran under the railway line. Turning left we ran through Milborne Wick. The slower group ran up the hill and back into Milborne Port and via footpaths arrived at the pub. The faster group followed the railway line and went up on the ridge looking over Oborne. Running back through New Town and footpaths ending up back at the pub.
