So super chuffed when Seville marathon fell in the same date. Thank you to everyone who has messaged me and wished me a happy birthday. Been a tad busy this morning to reply Now time to get on it Also absolutely stoked for Deanna who completed her first marathon this morning in 4:08. In 20 degrees heat.

Babcary 7.5 Miles.   Full Results

From Jo:  Today many green & whites traveled the short few miles (with the exception of Terry Byrne who for him, this is not a local race ) just up the road to take part in our next club championship race - Babcary 7.5 mile road race. The one thing we all agreed on was we got away lightly with the weather with just the strong wind to contend with. Thankfully, like many of us feared it may, it did not turn out to be another Longleat . It also only took us two group photos to get everyone in which is an achievement . Starting at the bottom of the hill is not everyone’s idea of fun but as one by one we crossed the finish line, there were plenty of smiles. Despite the undulating course many of us enjoy this one & as always we all did our great club proud.

Big Mud Marathon

From Ann: Well BigFeat Community big mud marathon definitely lived up to its name, just over 27 miles of extreme mud and plenty of hills just to add to the extreme. The scenery was amazing and the mud was definitely hard work but also fun in a weird way, half of the time you were sliding and slipping. The aid stations were amazing and the marshals were all lovely. BigFeat Events are definitely one of my favourite organisations to run at.

Weekend Running

From Chris:  Just the four of us (including Honey ) running from Cavity Trays this morning - I was meant to be leading Sharon Hardy’s group but no-one else turned up (I won’t take it personally ). Fab run in the sun to Odcombe then back via Balls Hill. Tim and Lill did loops so they didn’t leave me!

From Rich:  Another 16 miles in the legs for the marathon training group this morning. A pretty hilly route with plenty of elevation and strong winds made it a really good work out, great running this morning all. P.s. Helen Nesbitt we really must coordinate our runs better, we don’t have cake.

From Andy:  SAS run from Somerton. Dave and Denise joined me for a stetch out towards Pitney, we split up at the Duck pond and I continued the Pitney loop to rejoin Phil at the carpark for tea. Quite windy light rain and some mud.

From Helen: Sunday Club Run complete, another quicker than planned run with nice little group of 6 well done all thanks for the company nice to have Harriet join us and complete her first 10miles in a while and also especially well done Elie for completing 5.5miles before our 10 xx

From Amanda: Tough windy run but at least it stayed dry. Well done ladies. Thanks Helen Nesbitt for delicious cake afterwards, it was much appreciated.

From Ali: Sunday 10K group this morning. We saw Amanda Travers inbetweeners group on the way and managed to get back before the rain started.

Park Runs

From Mafalda:  YTRRC does Frogmary Green Farm parkrun . Not many around this morning for the utterly muddy plod. Well done everyone.

From Taryn:  At Ashton court today- up and down that hill. But kept plodding snd enjoyed the down hill.

From Sue: Another glorious morning for a parkrun, this time in Gisborne, very scenic, along coast and river. It being the 22nd of the month lots of runners were wearing tutu's (22).Another friendly group of runners and my 99th parkrun.

From Andy:  Woodate valley parkrun... forgot my Garmin, got diverted due to a road closure, nearly missed the start, messed up phone strava and got my personal worst 40:14 time. Still feel better than staying in bed for an extra hour.

From Margarita: Shepton Mallet parkrun today. Lovely to see Claire Church and run with Katie Stokes for a little while. Well done both.

From Kevin:  Swanage today at my first visit at Durlslon parkrun. Nice course if you like hills.

From Terry: Newport Parkrun 4 left for the Alphabet

From Lindsay: First time the trainers have been put on since the double marathon last weekend. As we were up visiting Abi Saunders it made sense to do the Victoria docks park run for the 'V' of the alphabeeter challenge. This was a 3 lap flat course and not trail which was good although the uneven cobbles weren't great on the Achilles and shins but we did it. Seeing the docks, cable cars and ships was great scenery.. another park run done xx

PUB RUN – SHEPTON BEAUCHAMP – (20TH FEBRUARY 2025)

From Mark:  There were three of us in the not so fast group tonight (Louise, JC, and myself), and eight of us in total. It was warmer tonight, so I felt a bit overdressed a mile or so into the run.

Leaving the pub we ran eastward through the village and onto West Lambrook. We turned left at new cross farm and made our way to Burrow. Some dogs made a noise from a farm yard as we passed but didn’t come out. We continued down the lane to the rusty axe and Stembridge. Turning right, we ran through the village and onto new cross hill. Part way along we met a queue of cars and an unfortunate cyclist injured on the ground. Thankfully he was being tended to and an ambulance had been called. We continued to New Cross. The last leg was a slog back the way we had come.

After, the eight of us, ate around one big table in the bar. Thanks Phil for organising.
