Weekend Running

From Rob: Sunday morning trail run from Odcombe taking in Chiselborough,Norton and Ham hill. Great company and social, thanks everyone.

From Mark:  Run in Alison's group from Goldenstones. Two from Sunday Slow and Steady, joined Alison's group to run a 10 km clockwise loop around Yeovil. The run incorporated Lysander Rd, Bunford, Preston Rd, Sparrow Rd, Goldcoft, Reckleford, Sherborne Rd, and Yeovil Country Park.

Thanks Alison and all for a pleasant run in the sunshine.

Stur Half

From Margarita: A double weekend for races. With the Wessex 10km on Friday with a fab turnout by the club. Sixth time of doing this race, a brilliant race with a mix of road, hills and trail. Then Sunday over to Sturminster for the Stur Half, lovely to see Andy Hale, Kate Gowers and Steve Lye. This one was one that I wanted to do to improve from 2022, I certainly did this my smashing by time, well chuffed with this. A tough race with the start being on a hill and rolling hills thereafter.

From Andy:  Just finished Stur Half. Quite a nice course a few hills and a great down hill finish. Wasn’t my quickest half but enjoyed the same. Also nice to see several Yeovil shirt out running today.

From Steve:  Sturminster Half completed. Nice rural route and well marshalled and lots of water stations, with a cheeky hill at 11 miles. Nice to see some other YTRRC runners too.

Hill Training

From Tim:  Jo's Thursday Hills.

Jo couldn't make it so I volunteered to take the session. It was still hot and sunny so changed the planned hill to a shaded Thorne Coffin. Warm up was a jog to the bottom then the hard work started. 3 sets of 15 seconds then 3 off 30 on the 1st slope. 2nd slope more 15 second bursts. I had no complaints and all seemed to enjoy especially sending Stephen Warren Happy birthday wishes. Jo is back next Thursday at 6.30.

Totnes 10k

From: Totnes 10k complete this morning - it was a new course which seemed to have a lot more hills than before as well as an extra k added, so it felt tough! However, mum managed to bag 1st in her age category 🏃‍♀️‍➡️ earning a trophy and nice bottle of red, well done!

Park Runs

From Adam: Four YTRRCs at Weymouth for their 500th event - plus of course sea swim and breakfast.

From Jo: Great turn out from the green & whites at todays Frogmary Green Farm parkrun in the sunshine.

Wessex 10k.          Full Results

From Jo:  Really great turn out from the green & whites at tonight’s The Wessex 10K 2024, especially as there were no points on offer!! Brilliant to see lots of the club members marshalling as well. As runners we all know how great it is to recognise a marshal

I don’t know how many he got but Bungy Williams got me proper with a “come in Yeovil” right down the ear as he went past!!

Fantastic to see Hannah on her first club run securing First Lady. She did the club & herself proud .

Great running by all on what is not an easy course made a little tougher in tonight’s heat.

PUB RUN – MOSTERTON – (1ST AUGUST 2024)

From Mark:  There was another good turnout for the pub run tonight. Conditions were hot and sunny, and Rob led a group of seven (Rob, Helen, JC, Rachael, Lindsay, Linda, and myself), in the not so fast running group. It was a simple run. Leaving the pub we ran eastwards along the lane to Chedington, ran a small loop around the village and returned by the same route. There was some climb, and some great views over the countryside. The village of Chedington is very attractive with its old stone buildings.

Back at the pub, we sat outside round a large table, and for the meal, had a choice of pie, with help yourself vegetables. Thanks Rob for leading, and Phil for organising.
