Another Great Awards Night 2024
Released On 1st Dec 2024
The Full Monty
From Steve: Well what can I say about today and the full Monty, so proud of all the runners today for getting around but especially those from Yeovil Town RRC. I really enjoyed cheering each and everyone of you around today and I really appreciated the hills on the course as we walked around and could take it all in. The runners from Frances Malins stable did really well with both Richard Clayton and Yunmi Jang winning prizes with Yunmi letting Richard by her at the end ! What a lovely girl she is. At the front Wayn loveridge was amazing in the mud as always but George and Adrian from the club were fantastic and Joseph really put a tremendous run in just finishing in front of a fast finishing Gareth Davies who raced for miles and miles in the mud with Darren Mackie just pipping him in the end. I tried to watch every one in and with around forty runners I won’t mention everyone as I would be all night but We’ll Done Everyone doesn’t do the effort u put in justice. A special mention to Taryn Monks who finished this gruelling race with a foot injury and bravely still got it done. Fantastic day everybody and till the next time ( oh how is Joanna Samuel feeling now too ) next year at the Full Monty see you there
From Linda: Full Monty Cute. What can I say apart from 2 words. MUD and HILLS! Enough said!.....OK a bit more. Over 50 YTRRC runners started off I think. I booked in 38 of them. Started off great, until we hit St Mike's Mound. Then instead if Joanna Samuel going forwards and up, she was slipping back and back. Couldn't get her footing and 2 marshals helped her up the bank. To be fair. The course was very churned up with the 200 runners before us. Cheers guys! Jo wasn't very happy with the race after that. I was chirpy as anything. When we got to 5 miles we knew we was never going to get under 2.5 hours. You really couldn't get started with all the mud. It was like a ice rink. The hill wasn't too bad but obviously couldn't run up them. I started flagging at 7 miles, then Jo turned her support on and encouraged me the rest of the way. So on top of the last hill at Wye Valley and running on the flat. I fell over. How? I really don't know why, but landed on on face. At least it was soft. A few of the club supporters met us at the end. I guess the rest were in the pub (don't blame them). Spoke to the Race Director Martin Cook afterwards and he said that this year's course was the worst for a long time. I was happy at the end. I got 2 Xmas puds as Jo doesn't like them. Thanks Jo and everyone for the support. Thanks Steve Membury for the taxi ride. Even though you missed the first half of your match. Will I do it again....the jury is out!

PUB RUN – PALMERS FISH N CHIPS – (28TH NOVEMBER 2024)
From Mark: It was that time of year when the “Pub Run” is from Palmers Fish n Chips shop. There were five in the not so fast group (Seb, Lill, Kelly, Elie, and myself), Guy running fast, and Phil.
I used a route I occasionally run on a Saturday morning from Cavity Trays. Running eastward along the airfield path, and continuing past houses to the old Westland Sports and Social Club, we then made our way along Preston Grove to Larkhill road. We cut across to Monksdale, and ran down onto the path at the edge of Abbey Manor Park. We continued northwards along the path up to Thorne Lane. Next we headed out into darkness, and ran towards Montacute. Turning left we ran through Lufton, and back to the north western edge of Yeovil. For the final leg, we ran back via Alvington.
Thanks all, and Phil for organising. Enjoyed the cod n chips afterwards.
