Lights Night Run

From Ann: Wow it was great to be back to were I used to go to as a kid ,it was just how I remembered so I done the Stanley park park run in the morning and what a course I really did enjoy it mostly flat past a lovely water fall through a small woodland area on to the public path way ,past the sports track it was a double loop. I would love to go back, I was first for my age ranking so pleased with that, then after a day at the pleasure Beach with the kids ,I done the 10k run the lights over 1200 people alone for the 10k,I came 78th out of that and rant in 46.20 so very pleased ,it was one lap down past all the lights along the promenade so pretty flat what a run the atmosphere was electric, there was a lovely lady doing a warm up ,great music and she busted some funky moves ,water half way and at the end amazing medal and t-shirt, one thing being in this amazing running group has taught me is to really support everyone that is struggling and everyone in general, as I ran past the 5k runners I made sure I cheered them on and told them how amazing they are doing being in the right group really does give you a great insight to so much am so great full to Yeovil Town RRC.

Frome Half Marathon

From Margarita:  My second half in August, completed Frome Half Marathon today. Started from the Old Showfield. A cool start to the morning and lovely to see Charlene Hennells. A very hilly race, definitely more uphill than downhill. A run out to Nunny Castle and back along lots of hilly and long roads. A long downhill through the town followed by an uphill then a sprint to the finish. Huge shoutout to Char who completed her first half marathon and her third race. She did fab on what was a very hard and hilly course.

Park Runs

From Trev: The three of us made to Street with Daphne & Kim Barfoot

From Margarita:  A bit of tourism at Poole parkrun this morning. A lovely flat run, very busy, but enjoyed it.

From Jo: Lovely morning out at Frogmary Green Farm parkrun for Linda Membury’s 200th parkrun & Simon Eadon’s 350th Parkrun. Linda made a lovely cake that was enjoyed by all. Thanks to Steve Membury & Triss Samuel who guarded the cake while the rest of us ran & walked around.

From Linda: So I've now got my J for parkrun alphabet! Jersey Farm parkrun. Lovely course. 2 and a bit laps. 1 lap under trees and the second around the meadow, which was very hot. Lovely course, glad we got there early as there was road closures and limited parking. We found a nice garden centre and had coffee afterwards. This was my 199th run. Roll on next week for my 200! Thanks to my cousin Susan West for driving x for the blog.

From Steve: Some Parkrun tourism for me this morning at Shipley Park Parkrun in Derbyshire. A nice course on gravel tracks through the park and through woods with a short sharp hill twice. They are spoilt for choice for available Parkruns up here!

PUB RUN – LIMINGTON – (15TH AUGUST 2024)

From Mark: It was warm and sunny at Limington tonight, and there were seven in the not so fast group (Chloe, Kirsty, Shaun, Sue, Louise, JC, and myself). We ran an anti-clockwise loop, firstly running the lane past the weir, through Yeovilton , along Bineham lane, and up to the junction at Costello hill. We continued into Ilchester, where I thought it would be a good idea to go off-road. We climbed and descended what seemed like a pointless set of concrete steps, which may actually be there for flood defences. Next we followed a footpath across fields, which is part of the Leland Trail and Monarch’s Way. We passed a barn, and two groups of cows which mostly ignored us. Turning right we ran up to Manor farm, and Lower farm, and continued to the edge of Limington. I added on a small detour to add some distance which included a footpath darkened by shade. After, we were joined by Phil, Guy, Fez, and Ann in the pub. Thanks Phil for organising. The pub meal was good.
