Bath to Bristol Marathon

From Sharon: An early start in the dark with the predicted rain to Bath to run the Relish Running Bath to Bristol Marathon. A flat out and back route along the old railway line. Fantastic marshalls and aid stations. Heavy rain and strong winds for the first half but then the sun shone. Lovely to see Nikki and Simon Rowbotham twice at their marshall pont. Great to see TerryandKaryl Gill. Terry smashed it in just under 5 hours , first yeovil male and I came in just under 6 hours which isn't too bad considering lack of training and the recent lurgy - first yeovil lady.
Bungy for the blog please.

Amsterdam Marathon and Half

From Dan:  @tcsamsterdammarathon completed. (No. 62). After 16 weeks of no running due to injury and only a few weeks of gentle running. Absolutely buzzing to complete the marathon in 3:50.

Beautiful City. Stunning Routes. Amazing Atmosphere, Incredibly run Event. Now sat in the Sunshine Drinking Beer in @vondelpark_amsterdam waiting for Deanna to run past while running the Half Marathon. No rush…..

Kids Cross Country

From Adam: Yeovil Primary Schools cross country races this Monday 21st at Yeovil Town FC, Huish Park. Any help, any time between 2.00 and 5.00 very welcome.

The Hats

From Lesley: See attached names of members who have submitted their hat details. I know some of you still have a race to do but please send me the races completed so far with details of the one you have entered but still have to complete. I can then get the order into the suppliers to ensure we get them done in time for the Awards evening. Thank you and well done - there are lots of you again this year.  The List of Hats.

Weekend Running

From Lesley: While lots of the usual suspects for our Sunday run were off doing other things in the rain, only five of us braved the rain and wind and ran our 10 miles from Goldenstones. We kept to roads although some of them seemed like trail with mud and puddles. Of course we rewarded ourselves with coffee and cake in the cafe afterwards.

Park Runs

From Jo:  To keep on brand with Sarah Cox (Radio 2 if you know you know!!!) WOW WOW WOW!!!!

I am both honoured & thankful & blown away by the amount of Yeovil Town RRC members who came to Weymouth parkrun to help me celebrate my 250th Parkrun. We really did paint this mornings parkrun Green & White. I was privileged to have Graham Still & Bungy Williams running a Parkrun with us. Thanks specially to Terry Byrne for driving along the south coast to join us. My wonderful husband Triss Samuel also made it out of bed to come & help me celebrate, even actually seeing me over the finish line this time!! Helen Nesbitt I am totally made up with my helium ballon. I am just sorry i chose to run with it causing to to get punctured & deflate while out on route .

Of course no Parkrun is complete without our inevitable breakfast .

I am blown away by all your kind words & support. Thank you to each & everyone of you

From Trevor:  Couldn’t make it to Weymouth for Jo‘s 250th! (Apologies Jo!) So headed to Shepton Parkrun when it was cancelled- headed to Street just made it for the start.

From Adam: Lousberg Aachen, our second quite small German Park Run. Wet, rainy, slippery and very hilly, no real flat bits! However beautiful two lap course through the woods of Lousberg nature park. Again lovely people and very friendly visit to a cafe afterwards.

PUB RUN – KEINTON MANDEVILLE – (17th OCTOBER 2024)

From Mark:  The club returned to the Quarry Inn last night for the first time since 14th March 2019.

There were eight of us, and just three in the not so fast group (Louise, JC, and myself). With a Harvest Moon, we left the pub running eastward, then turning right, ran south through the village. It took a while for the Harvest Moon to appear just above the horizon. We continued past the old phone box and down the lane towards Charlton Adam. We crossed over the railway line and reached the village. We continued south. As we ran along Chessels lane, an occasional bat appeared out of the darkness ahead of us. As we looped around the village, the sound of bells ringing, and the Harvest moon ahead of us gave a very atmospheric feel to the run. We passed the church, turned right, and then headed northwards back up the lane the same way we had come. We passed Phil as we entered the village and continued back to the pub.

Thanks Phil for organising. The food was good, and it was a nice return.
