Flooding all the Way

Honiton Hippo
From Dom: Honiton Hippo.....Todays run was one of the most fun and enjoyable of the year. If you love trails, woodland, muddy pools, water, mud, more water, more mud, fields, rivers, having boulders launched at you (thanks Michaela Hurd ), oh and more water above your waist for good measure, the potential to lose trail shoes in the silt of 3 foot deep muddy pools this is for you. Laughed more today than have done all year, a great morning run.
Quiet Charity 10k
From Taryn: With Gemma Murley and Ann Grace Thankyou for the company there and back! I was right behind you! A quiet Sunday no pressure 19km event. Raising money for charities 2 ladies will be running London next year. Great organisation, route support cake medal and coffee- what wasn’t too like? Some uphill! Blowy but dry.
STOUR HEAD - ALFREDS TOWER HIKE.
From Mark: A really nice hike in the woods today to mark Phils 80th. The route led by Martin, followed for the most part the route of Phil's King Alfred's Challenge race. After the walk we had tea and cake.
Park Runs
From Helen: Lovely sunny morning (albeit very fresh feeling!) to visit Quakers Walk Parkrunfor a bit more YTRRC parkrun tourism - we now all have our Q . Lovely company as always, and of course a yummy brekki after.
From Lindsay: So this might have happened today, not only a course PB at @frogmarygreen park run but also 1st lady over the line, woop woop. I even beat haiden watts lol (nothing to do with him starting late whatsoever lol). Course was not too bad considering the damp weather recently so I'm glad I went with the trail shoes. Despite not having much enthusiasm to do park run this morning we made sure we were near the front as we set off. The members to lead were Lawrie, Steve and I, quickly left behind by them both, not sure why lol but I had them in my sights all the way round, and I'm sure they still heard me lol. Anyway we all kept good pace and kept upright with sprint finishes all round. On a bit of a high now with 2 PBs in a month xx
From Jo: Linda Membury & I had a lovely morning at Victoria Dock parkrun this morning. The Run Director asked who was local & there were only a handful of hands that went up!! Everyone there for their “V”!! This was a lovely Parkrun, made even nicer by the lovely sunshine, if not a little chilly. We thought it may be boring as we knew it was three laps, but it really wasn’t. We would both recommend this one especially as we both came 1st in our age category’s.

PUB RUN – WEST CHINNOCK – (26TH SEPTEMBER 2024)
From Mark; We were back at the Muddled Man, and there were eight of us in total. In the not so fast group were Louise, JC, Tim with Honey, and myself. We ran an anti-clockwise loop, first heading south, and forking right. We slogged up the hill, and turned left. The slog continued up Snail’s Hill. Passing Phil along East Lane, we turned left, and ran down through Middle Chinnock. Out the other side, we found the road to be flooded. It must have rained recently. It would have been a drag to go back so we continued through the water. The road was flooded for a hundred yards or more, was a foot deep in places, and was cold. This must have been a pleasant surprise for Honey. We continued past Poop Hill Bridge, and turned right at the end. Next we climbed up Smoky Hole Lane, which darkened under the trees. At the top, we turned left and ran along Pease Hill where there were a few puddles. We descended down towards Chiselborough with some great views ahead in fading light. Turning left, we ran down to the village, and turned right. We passed the church and pub, and continued past Balham Hill. Louise’s trainers had developed a loud squeak at this stage. The final leg was a cruise back to West Chinnock and the pub.
Thanks Phil for organising, I always enjoy going to the unique old pub which always feels lost in time.
