Hope 24

From Ann: Had the most amazing weekend with Yeovil Town RRC at hope 24 challange. We all got there Friday evening had food and a great light show to end the evening . We all got up to music playing to wake us all for morning call. We all got up and got ready for the start of our 12 hour challange to do as many laps as we can or want to , the course started of flat for the blink of an eye and straight into a lovely large hill which led into the forest you ran into for two miles to your aid station which had everything you could want to refuel and stock up, you carried on into the wood up down winding paths a few hills then a lovely down hill and along a path and through thw camp site to the start again what made it great was for the last mile you could hear the music which you knew you were nearly at the start again . It gave you a great boost . When I got to lap 6 I ran with John Curtis untill lap 8 which I said that was it for me but with a well needed boost from the amazing yeovil group I done 1 more lap then for my final lap, lap 10 Tim Willis came back on course to help me with the final lap and god I needed his encouragement for the last one by that time my feet were dyeing and I was a little bit broken . I had a massage collected my medal and went back to the amazing team who had cooked up a feast ,after that we went over for the results of the 12 hours race me thinking i had no change only went and got second place for the women and came 5th out of 129 I think . The support I got over the weekend from all in our group and others from yeovil running group wad amazing and nothing I've ever known before so pleased to be apart of it all. I've only been running for roughly 5 months now this was my second ultra and managed to do 49 and a bit miles I still can't believe it but my blisters and legs do . It was an amazing last evening with food drinks and bed time was a music competition between the tents I've not laughed this much in such a long time . Sorry if I didn't tag you my phone is naff enjoy the rest every one it's very much well deserved .thank you Hope24 for an amazing ultra and such an amazing team of people . I would definitely live to come back next year and do the next level 24 hours.

From Tim:  2nd place Prizes at Hope 12 and 24

12 club members and 9 wanabees running a 5 mile hilly trail loop on the edge of Dartmoor in excellent running conditions. Couldn’t be better out with friends on a very popular event. Well it was as Ann Grace smashed it running about 50 miles and winning 2nd place lady in the 12 hour event and Rob Jones and Andy Farrant in a mixed team covering over 100 miles winning 2nd place in the 24 hour event.

Most of us were camping for the whole weekend and we set up our own YTRRC village with BBQ on the go, fire pits and much laughter had.

Great event and very likely do it again next year.

Holes Bay 10km

From Terry: Holes Bay 10km, first running of this event. Flat, great views, little muddy in places through country park. Bit of an issue with routing around 4.5 to 5.5km had runners going in different directions on the path probably caused by late rerouting required due to closed path. But nice event, traffic free and easy parking. One that will improve and grow. Hard week hit time a bit and ran extra 100mts or so at end to make up to 10km. 54 mins.

Tree Trail Race

From Adam: £500 presented to Kingsbury Pre-school from the proceeds of this year’s Kingsbury Town Tree Trail Race

Otter Rail and River Run

From Paul: 11 runners from YTRRC gathered in Tipton St. John for the Otter Rail and River Run. After lining up in number order for a lovely group photo, the race was underway. A couple of tricky hills (accidentally forgotten by Jo in her preamble about the race!), quite a lot of mud, some heavy showers and some beautiful views - the race was a really lovely trail run. Steve stormed in first, continuing to impress with a return to excellent form. Paul (putting on a brave face with an injured knee) took some great photos as we were all rounding the final corner. We were all rewarded with a bottle of Otter beer. A great morning!

From Margarita: Over to Tipton St John today for a championship race Otter Rail and River Run 2024. What I thought was a fairly flat and dry race turned out to be hilly, wet and very muddy. Especially when we got to about 8km when we got to a suspiciously smelly muddy flooded lane which made it interesting let's say. A lovely run along the old rail and alongside the river. A good turnout by the club.

Park Runs

From Helen: Just a few of us a Frogmary Parkrun this morning, nice to have Beryl join us today. It was a lot muggier/hotter than anticipated once running! Sorry I missed Natasha and Lawrie from the photo.

From Terry:  Poole Parkrun (P please bob ) 819 runners

Summer 5k Series

From Mel:  On behalf of the YTRRC catering crew . A big thank you for all your generosity of the donations of homemade cakes and quiches you made for the club. We raised £113.51

THANK YOU to everyone.

PUB RUN – GALHAMPTON – (11TH JULY 2024)

From Mark: There was just JC and myself in the not so fast group tonight. Phil and Guy made a total of four. Me and JC ran the usual anti clockwise loop, which started with a run along Sandbrook lane down to North Cadbury. Then we ran eastwards to Hill Ash Farm at Woolston, and northwards towards Yarlington. Before reaching the village we turned left and ran down to Yarlington Mill Farm. Turning right, we ran the winding undulating lane past the manor house and back into Galhampton and the pub. With it being dry, sunny, and not too warm, conditions were perfect for a run in the countryside. Thanks Phil for organising, the pub food was good.
