Bridgewater Half Marathon & 10k
From Graham: Great turnout for the Bridgewater half marathon & 10k this morning. Congratulations to Gill for winning the ladies race. Great running from everyone with some pb’s along the way.
Mendip Marauder
From Anne: What an amazing turn out for the mendip marauder from Yeovil Town RRC . That was a tough course and not for the faint Hearted thats for sure ,to say there were hills would be an understatement but the scenery was amazing and met some great people along the way . The start of the race was amazing weather and about half way there were clouds and breeze which was very much needed by that point . The aid stations were amazing and the route was well marked out ,thank you Dom Rowe for taking me very much appreciated, I was second yeovil runner in so very pleased with that. one.
From Mags: Today's turn up for Mendip Maraunder 30 from YTRRC. Well done everyone on such a hilly course! 3rd lady for me and 12th overall.
Moreton 10km
From Terry: So Moreton 10km, a fully fledged trail run, with narrow paths, sand, hills, some nice 'lumps' and even some mud. First running, arranged by runabeans. First the little gripes, only 3 porta loos with a big entry, and first 500m very narrow so very slow. But there are so many positives, challenging without being silly, lovely Marshalls, no road at all, nice atmosphere, and very enjoyable countryside with narrow rooty path through woods, lots of gravel, some mud and some nice hills. For a first race great job by runabeans, well done. 58 mins for me, ok with that with the start and around there. And great to see a second Yeovil vest with Kate.
Weekend Running
From Lesley: A different 10 mile route this morning for our Sunday run, taking in Bradford Hollow, Bradford Abbas, Thornford, Clifton Maybank, Barwick and back via Ninesprings. Thanks Robert for help with the route. We need to repeat this route with a few tweaks here and there. . Thanks all for the company and Helen for the photos and her delicious cakes.
From Ali: Sunday 10K group this morning from Goldenstones. A loop out to West Coker and East Coker. A group picture with Lesley Nesbitt group at start. Another great run with lovely company.
From Tim: Cavity trays Saturday Social run. Two groups this morning but we did different routes. Dave Mears went on a 10 mile circuit of Yeovil while I lead a group on an Odcombe loop. Just a bit over 10k but a good run seeing Ashley Gingell on Bunford Hill and Graham Still with Jac Casey chatting on Camp Road. Thanks all.
Park Runs
From Trevor: Street Parkrun with Natasha Turner
From Jo: Great morning at Weymouth parkrun with Tony Nesbitt marshalling & Lesley Nesbitt pacing at 30mins, you were both fab. Back to breakfast instead of a sea swim today wich was really tasty. This was number 243 so the count down to 250 has begun!!
PUB RUN – GALHAMPTON – (29TH AUGUST 2024)
From Mark: There were five in the not so fast group tonight (Rachael, Da Riush, Louise, Trevor, and myself). Leaving the pub, we ran through the village, and then down to, and along Corkscrew lane. We rested then continued to Hill Ash farm at Woolston. Turning right, we then ran along Woolston road to North Cadbury. Heading north we made our way back to Galhampton via Sandbrook lane, and the way we came out. Conditions were very pleasant for running. We stopped to look at a water wheel at one point. I should investigate the many foot paths for some off-road, another time.
After the run, we joined the others for the meal in the pub, which was good value and very nice. Thanks Phil for organising.
