Park Runs
From Ali: Bridport park run this morning with brunch after with Li Watkins. ALS bumped into Kevin Webb. A windy , muddy and wet park run.
From Linda: Today I visited Parke parkrun in Devon. Whilst getting a parking ticket at the machine I asked another runner if the course was flat. She laughed and asked if I was serious....she soon realised I was! Omg, it was so hilly and muddy and hard! I was told afterwards that this parkrun is the 2nd hilliest in Devon. We only choose it so we could get breakfast afterwards at Bovey Tracey! (Which we didn't do in the end). The gods wasn't all bad, it did stop raining. I would like to rerun this on again when it's dry. I spent most of my time carefully not slipping through all that mud. Not my best time but I got around in one piece.
From Katie: Running in the rain Great to see Claire, Claire and Trevor at Shepton Mallet Parkrun this morning.
Saturday and Sunday Running
Saturday saw the rain and flooding and today was Sunny and cold but did not stop the Club Runs.

PUB RUN – SHEPTON BEAUCHAMP (12TH January 2023)
From Mark: With a welcome break in the rain, I drove cross country by lanes towards the A303 and went through a long flood at Bridgehampton, and two smaller floods just past Lopen Head. There were seven of us in the not so fast group led by Sue (Lindsay, Elie, Kelly, Louise, Sue, Rob, and myself). We were cautious of floods so ran through the village towards West Lambrook, and turned left into West Lane. We continued to Burrow where the group split. Five of us led by Rob continued running towards Stembridge where we passed the Rusty Axe. At Stembridge Ash we turned right and headed towards New Cross. The road (New Cross Hill) was closed to traffic and covered in mud and small rocks. In the dark the inclines seem to be felt rather than seen. We returned to West Lambrook, and headed back the way we came to Shepton Beauchamp and the pub. A nice meal afterwards in a good old Pub. Thanks all and Phil for organising. Driving home I met another flood at Hawthorn Hill just past East Lambrook. As it looked like a long one, I turned the car round and made a detour via South Petherton and the A303.
