Feisty Phoenix Run.         Results

From Lindsay: So we didn't tell anyone about this one as we weren't sure we could pull it off but I did (unfortunately Stephen Warren had an injury which played up and he had to take it easy from 13 miles during yesterday's marathon, this meant he decided not to do the marathon today). Double marathon for me this weekend with Phoenix Running West Sussex (Surrey) . We booked in at the local Travelodge in Walton on Thames and arrived Friday night. Luckily the weather stayed dry for both days and managed to complete both marathons in under 5 hours.. unfortunately today I had pain in my feet and fronts of my ankles and shins but I got it done. Steve supported each 5k which was great.. now time for a well deserved rest and an Aperol spritz lol xx

Weekend Running

From Gareth: 41 miles down! 10k to go.

From Ali: Sunday 10K group today. A route around Yeovil saving the hills to the end. Followed by tea and cake in the cafe.

From Graham: Big group at Yeovilton this morning getting those all important quality miles done.

From Tim:  Saturdays Cavity trays run. Two small select hardy groups ventured out into the countryside for a damp and cold 10k ish run leaving the walking group to explore the local area. Soon warmed up with the hill up to Odcombe. Camp Road to White Post was surprisingly quiet then we hit the traffic on the way up to Forest Hill.

Great company with some going further as part of their marathon training. With Sharon Hardy, Julie Burton, Paul Cable and of course Honey.

From Tina: The inbetweeners did not disappoint today, we smashed the Yeovil half route (10 miles of it) jeffing as usual.

From Helen: Sunday Club Run complete…part of the Yeovil Half route. Our group was a little speedy for us today but we all kept up, and enjoyed it! Well done team.

Park Runs

From Terry: Valentines Parkrun for the Alphabet.

From Adam: Today we struggled round a very wet, muddy and slippery Greendale Farm Shop Park Run near Exeter. Lovely course (in the spring!). Great farm shop with cafe, animals and playgrounds etc.

From Sue: Another 8am start for the Taupo Parkrun, a relatively flat course out and back along the side of Lake Taupo, not a massive field of runners but all enthusiastic and friendly. Weather not so good today but promising to brighten up later. Results now in, 1st in age group, yeah

From Louise: A dismal day for a very muddy Frogmary Parkrun this morning. Shame birthday boy Matthew and Beata missed our smiley photo.

PUB RUN – WEST CHINNOCK – (13TH FEBRUARY 2025)

From Mark:  The northern approaches to West Chinnock were blocked by landslides, but luckily I drove there via the A30. There were only four of us tonight, and just JC and myself in the not so fast group.

We ran an anti-clockwise loop, firstly running southwards and turning right. Turning left we climbed snails hill and continued along east lane. Turning left we continued through Middle Chinnock. I expected the road to be flooded but it was ok. Turning right past poop hill bridge, and then left we encountered the first road closure. We climbed over a small mud slide near the bottom of smoky hole lane and continued. At the top of the hill we turned left, and descended pease hill towards Chiselborough. We ran through the village passing the church and pub. On our way back to West Chinnock we found the second road closure. This time the mud slide was much bigger. Part of the field had slid across the road. We climbed over it and continued down the lane back to the pub.

We were warned of the mud slides but didn’t know where they were or how big, so the run was a bit of an adventure, particularly in the dark. After, we had the pub meal which was good. Thanks Phil.
