The End of 2023

The End of 2023

Scavenger Hunt

Once again the year ended with a Scavenger Hunt, starting at The Bell in the rain and headed into town via the Tesco Bridge trying to answer questions as we went. The Tesco Trolly had most shoppers laughing and a big thanks to the on Duty Police lady who thought she was in for a quiet morning at the Police Station. A massive thanks to Vicky and team for organising and a great way for the Club to end the year.

From Jo: Great fun at the annual scavenger hunt this morning thank you from me & all who took part Vicky Rosewell for organising for us

PS this is not our chair person Stephen Warren sliding down a kids slide with great enthusiasm.

Chard Flyer 10k 2024

From Jo:  Ok so here goes todays race report from the Chard Flyer 10k 2024 (which is a little challenging as I did not see the majority of us finish as you were all ahead of me!!).

I think it is fair to say all Yeovil Town RRC members fitted into 4 categories today. 1) fit, healthy & raring to go. 2) returning from injury so building up the effort. 3) ignoring all injuries & just running anyway. 4) hungover!!! (Lindsay Saunders!!).

Despite all being very happy it was not raining, trying to hurd us for a group photo where we were all looking at the camera proved more of a challenge then the run - please see below best one we could get!! Thank you David Mears .

Many of us forgot just how far the walk to the start was & us back markers did get hurried along as they wanted to start - bit rude, wasn’t our fault the green man took ages to let us know it was safe to cross the busy road!!

At the start someone said go, everyone ran off & that was that. Oh, hang on…… the hill that just keeps giving, yes many had blanked that from our minds (or failed to let others know about it - sorry Donna Reeves ).

Everyone finished safely with very respectable times & I thought Tim Willis even won a prize as he walked around clutching a “Chard Flyer” bottle of wine. Turns out Suzanne Conlon won her age catagory . Great medal this year as well. Lesley Nesbitt good luck sorting out all the points!!

Great club turn out, we should be proud

Weekend Running

From Mark: Saturday morning CT Run with Tim and Sharon. Thanks both for leading.

From Lesley: Yet another good social Sunday run (on Friday). Contrary to the weather forecast it decided to rain for half of the run; of course the sunshine appeared when we were in the cafe afterwards! This, of course, didn't dampen our enthusiasm. Nice to have Andy back after injury. Also Joanna, Da Riush, and Rachael getting back their fitness. Thanks all for all your company in 2023 and here's to lots more in 2024.

Plain Crazy

From Taryn: Finished the Plain Crazy. Kirsty Norman led the way and katie stokes and Taryn Monks behind her! Wet hilly but good.

Park Runs

From Lesley: Festive double parkruns complete - Weymouth on Christmas Day and The Great Field today. Today was hard work but it's good to be done and dusted. Nice to see Adam and all his family, Simon, Tina and a few other Crewkerne runners, in addition to those in the photo. I'm sure the Chard Flyer runners will have enjoyed their race despite the hills!. Don't forget to book in for the next few Championship races, the next one being Longleat 10k at the end of the month.

From Steve: Kate and I did the Blandford Parkrun this morning. A bit soggy and muddy but good to get out and stretch the legs.

From Terry and Karyl: Christmas Day Weymouth Parkrun Merry Christmas to you all.

Clevedon Boxing Day 4 Mile Race

From Lesley: Clevedon Boxing Day 4 mile race completed this morning with Helen and Luke to run off the enjoyable indulgences of Christmas Day. A very busy race with over 1000 runners with a nice(!) hill in the middle. Lots of support around the course. Nice to see Vicky & Jack.
