Plain Crazy

From Adam; Travelled across to warminster this morning in search of a race with hills. I failed slightly as I didn't think you could have the whole thing be uphill.
Slightly disappointed to not see more tanks out but I did see a nice Cheiftain amongst the shot out range targets.
A good day out but lost my support due to illness so sorry for the selfie.

Scavenger Hunt

From Linda: Great turn put for today's scavenger hunt today. Lown away with how many of us turned up. Great way to burn a few calories. Thank you for Vicky Rosewell and Jack for organising the event. Happy New Year everyone x

Trains, Pains and Automobiles

From Dom:  Today Michaela Hurd and i ventured out for the channel events 14mile Bridgwater to Taunton canal run. After some logistical conversations we both drove, and after some ropey satnav advice Michaela decided to park in Taunton train station carpark, and then i took us to the start line at the ymca in Bridgwater. All cars ready in place for the return.

With 300+ people signed up for this free run, the 14mile runners were set of in waves of 50 people 2 mins apart. With the canal path being quite narrow it was often single running or in pairs at best which led to quite a lot of congestion. It was a lovely flat route with some amazing views, the odd slippy path, swans, ducks a plenty and plenty of low bridges to mind your head on (makes a change for no styles!) . With Michaela running with stitch for almost half the run, the time of 2hr.23 was a very good achievement.

After the wooden medal was picked up, it was time to walk back to the car... And just as we reached the centre of Taunton it finally dawned on Michaela, she realisesd she had left her car keys in my car.... Back in bridgwater... Whilst not as an impressive achievement as Rachael Jones effort in 2023, Michaela takes the 2024 trophy. After much deliberation i booked 2 train tickets back to bridgwater, in hindsight should have just caught the train to bridgwater in the first place . A great route, free, and made the itv regional news.

Weekend Runs

From Sharon: A great turnout for this morning's Cavity Trays social. A good 10k for the not so fast group. The faster group managed between 7 and 11 miles. Thanks all for the company and chatter.

Park Runs

From Lindsay: So 4 us travelled to Taunton (this Inc the teenagers) to do the Longrun Meadow park run for the L for the alphabet challenge, L for my name challenge and 1 more towards the 250 park run challenge and also it was @samuel_dav14 first park run (Freya's bf). Freya was adamant she was not going to participate and was more worried about getting her new white Nike trainers dirty lol..3 of us started and went off at quite a speed, making sure Sam was okay as it was quite narrow, wet and muddy, with plenty of puddles. It was a 2 lap circuit so we knew what was coming for the 2nd lap although that didn't stop young Sam who suddenly decided to ditch Steve @rabbitspawsw and I. He then came over the line at a respectable time of 23.30, followed by Steve at a time of 25.22 and then saving the best till last, myself coming over the line at 25.48. great run which I would do again. Well done everyone. X

From Steve:  Parkrun tourism for Kate and I today in search of the letter R. We went to Rogiet….despite the photo showing Ogiet!!!!!!! (Least said about that the better ). A course on gravel paths around a country park (wild land next to the motorway).

Nice to have tea, coffee, and mince pies at the finish. Kate and I were 1st in our age groups and I was pleased to be 1st runner up.

From Simon: Sheringham Parkrun: 3° & foggy: 1 mile downhill (they really do have hills in Norfolk), 1 mile loop and, you’ve guessed it, a 1 mile slog back up the hill to the finish line.

From Terry: Moors Valley Park Run, big field as always, so slow start through the gate. Managed 26.08 pleased with that, while it's not hilly, it's gravel and undulating.
