Town Tree Garden

From Adam: Many thanks to the wonderful YTRRC members and friends who gave up their afternoon to help with the Town Tree Garden clearance - hard work, great food etc!

The Saint Hill.              Phoyographs

A great race today at Montacute at the All Saints Hill 5 and 10k race in lovely sunshine, great thanks to Ellie and the team for organising a lovely hilly race. A good club turn out as a Championship Race.

Park Runs

From Poppy:  My first ever Parkrun today. Decided to do The Great Field in Dorchester. What a disaster I started four minutes late as we had a nightmare getting there in the end. Ran like mad to catch up, ended up doing a personal best by a couple of minutes (26:34), so silver linings. They logged me at 29:10 with the 3 to 4 minute delay. Didn't get a chip at the end so nothing official though - I suppose I'll have to go again I've added it as a Freedom Parkrun instead.

Credit to Kevin for this photo, thank you for cheering me on as I slogged through. I look forward to running for both clubs next time.

From Helen: Beautiful morning for Frogmary Parkrun! Massive congratulations to Sandra Levett on completing her 100th Parkrun Milestone this morning.

From Ali: Brockenhurst park run in a hot sunny morning. Laps around the college.

From Simon: Enjoyed a ten mile run this morning taking in Hampstead Heath Parkrun - adding up to 1004’ of elevation.

Portcullis 10km

From Margarita: The inaugural Portcullis 10km today. A lovely trail race along the river Parret and the old Langport railway. A fab route with lots of lovely sunshine.

Weekend Running

From Tim: Harry's birthday run from Cavity trays with the sun out. We had 2 groups running roughly the same route along Camp Road. All achieved over 10k. Well done.

A J Bell Masters 10k

From Malcolm: A great run around central Birmingham on a hot Sunday 5th May in my England vest. It was the A J Bell Masters event over 10k. I finished in 54:44 in the 75 to 79 age group. It was a fantastic event with tremendous crowds around the whole course. This year there will be 3 YTRRC members in English Masters teams with Lesley and Nikki in the half marathon later this month. Let’s make it 4 next year - get qualifying for your age group!

PUB RUN – SOUTH PETHERTON – (9TH MAY 2024)

From Mark: On a warm and sunny May evening, there were seven of us in the not so fast group (Sue, Louise, JC, Sarah, Lauren, Russel, and myself). Sue planned an interesting partly off-road route, with some new bits, and also led the group.

Leaving the pub, we ran up the road opposite the pub and turned right at Broadmead. Following the path we reached whitfield lane (another path), and turned left, then right. We reached Carey’s Hollow at Ben Cross, and continued towards Fouts Cross. Turning left, we ran down Smokeclose lane. We crossed the A303 and headed up the road towards Lopen Head. Turning left and passing some birch trees , we crossed over for some more off road. The interesting paths took us past Broomhill, and down to Lopen. Following more paths northwards and eastwards, we turned right and ran south along the edge of Over Stratton, then ran back up through the village. Turning left we ran towards Watergore, and turned right. Crossing the A303 we headed down the road back to South Petherton. Thanks Sue for a really pleasant sunny run with some nice cross country.

After, ten of us ate, round one big table at the back of the pub. Thanks Phil for organising.
