Weekend Running

From Mags:  Easy 18miles this morning, building up the mileage for upcoming events.

From Rich: A big turnout of 23, Nolan & Sophie missed the photocall, for the Sunday marathon training group this morning. HM distance completed, well done everyone on what was a cold, damp and grey day. 15 miles next week.

From Helen: Sunday 10 miler complete well done all, can’t deny it felt like we were running for longer than we were today on this cold drizzly grey morning! However it’s done thanks for the yummy mini lemon drizzle cakes Kirsty to accompany my mini salted caramel shortbreads! Was nice to see our other running groups along the way and nice to meet up with others in the cafe after.

From Tina: Back with the inbetweeners today for a damp and cold 10 miles jeffing. The company however , was lovely ( sorry Gemma, you dashed off before the photo!)

From Claire: Joined the Cavity Trays run this week…chilly to start but soon warmed up…had the lovely gradual incline of Thorne Lane to start, to then be rewarded with the downhill of Ilchester Road…cutting off half way down to run right through to the amazing ‘walkable’ Stone Lane…. Not sure where I left my legs after that but a gentle run back…thanks all. Oh…there was a faster few as well…

From Ali: Sunday 10K group with a loop around the western side of Yeovil passing Lesley Nesbitt 10 mile group and spotting Kim Barfoot several times on route.

Park Runs

From Ali: Street park run this morning. A flat course of 3 laps round the 2 sports fields with a view of the tor. Followed by breakfast in Somerton on the way home.

From Helen: Frogmary Parkrun this morning.

PUB RUN – HARDINGTON MANDEVILLE – (16TH JANUARY 2025)

From Mark:  There were just JC and myself in the not so fast group tonight. Ann and Matt ran with Guy, and Phil went off alone.

We ran the usual five mile loop in the anti-clockwise direction, which meant initially climbing the hill up to Coker Ridge. The lane was excessively muddy, and judging by the sulphurous smell there was plenty of dung mixed in with it. To the left we had the lights of Hardington below, and possibly Crewkerne in the distance. Yeovil was lit up on the right. At the far western end of Ridge Lane we met the faster group coming in the opposite direction, and stopped for photos.

Continuing, we descended and then climbed Partway Lane. At Hill Cross, we turned left, then forked right. We passed Phil running in the opposite direction. Continuing along the southern edge of Hardington, we reached the turning for Lyatts. For the last leg we descended through Lyatts and ran back to the pub.

After, it was good to go in the pub, where the food was good. Thanks Phil for organising.
