Weymouth 10m     Photographs

From Nat: What a fantastic turn out for Green n Whites for Weymouth 10 mile (some for their hats also club points). While traveling down was thinking I don’t have to do the hills twice 😂😂. Kevin and I was being the photographer’s today, taking wonderful pictures. Perfect weather for this one as the sun was shining for John Enright who is sadly missed.
This was the last official race (listed) 2022-23. Paul Card outstanding as he bagged a solid 3rd place and 2 trophies & first Yeovil man home. Yunmi Jang ran fantastically overheard saying ‘Bring it on Mags 😂😂’ she was the first Yeovil lady. Too many brilliant examples today of our club runners doing amazingly well !! Report from Nat and Kevin Doherty 😊

Exmoor Stagger

From Lesley: I can honestly say that was tougher than any White Star event I've run. However, the views were amazing and the last 3 miles were nicely downhill! There were three Yeovil runners there today, myself, Mac and Jack. I didn't see them at the end but hopefully they managed the sub-3hr they were going for. Mac took a photo at the start and will hopefully send it to Bungy for the blog. Well done to Mike Harvey on winning his age category.

Club Calendar

The order for these has gone it with the 50% and they should be with me this week. To pay the £16 please use this link or BACS but let me know so I know you have paid. Thanks

Dark Woods Night Race

From Els: Last night I ran Flying Fox runnings new night race in beautiful Great Wood on the edge of the Quantocks. After helping to set up race headquarters I began to wish I'd opted for the short course but crazy is as crazy does...

The race began with a nice descent into the valley a right turn and then a steady climb. Yes, this race mostly went up up and up out of the valley and then down down down back into it. Not that I mind hills but there were two that were beasts and un-runnable for most the cheeky one at mile six took many by surprise as it was nearly vertical!
A lot of time and energy had been put into making the course easy to navigate in the pitch black and I'm glad because I found myself alone for quite a long stretch. It was a great experience and as a relatively new night trail runner it was good practice. Oh, and the medals were amazing! Different ribbons depending on the course you ran and literally the size of your hand!
Special thanks to Nathan Gardiner Pippa and Gary Stickley for all their hard graft setting this race up and coordinating it beautifully. I hope they enjoyed it as much as all the runners I spoke to. First and last Yeovil Town RRC lady (again!)

Stroud Half

Well done to Claire Shucksmith who was first lady for the Club at the Stroud Half.

1st Yeovil lady 😂😂 Won't be saying that much!
Stroud half completed in 2.28...not my best but the low sun and heat played a massive part in that. (Who would have thought that in October?) Very enjoyable run, a couple of longish gradual hills which prompted walking sections for me.
Still, all done and had the pleasure of running with my cousin for the first time 💕

Santa Dash

Drinks and refreshments are available for a small donation. If you require any further information please give me a shout. Thanks. x

Marks Runs

PUB RUN – SANDFORD ORCAS (18th October 2018)
As I sat in my car at the pub car park I watched in amazement as a squirrel did a tightrope act, walking along a telegraph wire for 20 yards or more. A small group gathered and J.C. led one of the two main groups. It was actually a great route, new for this pub. We turned left from the pub, then turned right and ascended up Shiller’s lane. Right at the next junction, we climbed a steep hill passing through woods and Holway. We crossed the road to Sigwells and then crossed the B3145. As we reached Poyntington, it was dark. What you could see of the village in the darkness was stunning. Between Poyntington and Oborne we passed bare rounded hills silhouetted against a dull blue sky with the moon up on the left. A small reddish dot was just to the right of the moon. It might be Thunderbird 5. From Oborne, we turned right and ascended once more. Runners ahead were occasionally silhouetted against the blue sky. We reached and crossed over the B3145 at Whitepost Gate. Continuing we passed farms and the Golf Club. At Ambrose Hill, we turned right. The narrow winding lane descended to Sandford Orcas, where we were greeted by smoke from wood-burning fires. Suddenly the pub appeared out of the darkness almost floodlit. Thanks to J.C. and all. It was a great run. The meal was had in great company.
