Gold Hill

Starting from Shaftesbury School on Hawkesdene Lane, Shaftesbury SP7 8NU, at 11AM, the race is a single loop 10k on scenic country lanes.

The course is hilly and soon after the start you get to run up the picturesque Gold Hill, made famous by the Hovis advert.

Sorry the course is not suitable for wheelchairs.

The race is accurately measured and organised according to UKA rules by the Gillingham Trotters.

The race is number 12 in the Dorset Road Race League

The race is organised by the Gillingham Trotters with all the proceeds going to Toby's and the local Scouts group.

Toby’s is a Shaftesbury based charity providing a safe environment for advice, information and guidance, informal education and social activities for young people especially at disadvantage between the ages of 13 and 25.

Facilities

There are toilets, changing, showers and a supervised luggage store at the school.

 

Awards

The award presentation will take place at about 12:30 in the hall where registration takes place.

Prizes are awarded as follows:

  • 1st and 2nd Male and Female in the Open Category
  • 1st and 2nd Male and Female Vets
  • 1st Male and 1st Female Teams - 4 to count

 

All runners will receive a Gold Hill Memento.

Entry

The race is limited to 250 competitors.

The course is not suitable for wheelchairs.

We welcome runners, Nordic walkers and fast walkers.

As the race is organised according to UKA rules, head phones are banned. You will be disqualified, should you be found wearing them.

Age Limit

Competitors must be 15 years old on race day to take part in the 10k race.
